For Classic-to-Oryx migrations, see Import Subscribers from Classic to Oryx.
Manage Comics Classic is the previous generation of the Manage Comics app. This article walks through the migration path for shops moving from Classic to Ordo on Shopify.
Before you start
Give yourself a two-week runway. Migrations are not easily reversible.
A short pre-migration checklist:
Clean up inactive customers in Classic so they do not come over.
Finalize any open FOC in Classic so you are not mid-cycle.
Export a reference set of recent invoices for audit.
Have Shopify admin access ready.
Step 1 — Export from Classic
Follow the Classic export path in How to Import into Manage Comics:
Export customers (MC 2.0 Export from All Customers).
Export subscriptions (MC 2.0 Export from Customer Pull Lists).
Save the files to a known location.
Step 2 — Install Manage Comics 2 on your Shopify store
If you have not already, install the Manage Comics 2 app on your Shopify store. See Install Manage Comics 2 Subscriptions.
Step 3 — Import customers and subscriptions
Follow the Ordo import path in How to Import into Manage Comics:
Import customers first.
Import subscriptions second.
Review the post-import email for any rows that failed.
Step 4 — Reconcile
After import:
Compare subscriber counts between Classic and Ordo. They should match closely. Small differences usually come from cleaned-up inactive customers.
Spot-check a handful of customers. Open them in Ordo, compare to Classic, and confirm their subscription list matches.
Step 5 — Cut over
Once you are confident:
Stop processing new work in Classic.
Let customers know your subscription system has a new home.
Run check-in, FOC, and customer management in Ordo from now on.
Keep Classic data available for at least 60 days in case you need to reference it.
