Once multi-location is enabled, every major screen in Manage Comics has a Location filter. The current selection is stored in a session cookie in your browser, so two staff members at two different locations sharing the same browser will share the same filter. This article covers where the filter appears, how the session cookie works, and how to set up separate browser profiles so two locations can work side by side without crossing wires.
Where the location filter appears
All Customers — filter to customers assigned to a single location.
All Subscriptions — filter to subscriptions at a single location.
Customer Orders — filter to orders from a single location.
Pulls By Date — filter to pulls from a single location.
Reports — most reports filter by location.
Check-In — specify the location receiving a shipment.
All Locations vs. a single location
Every filtered screen has an All Locations option in addition to individual locations:
All Locations shows an aggregate view across every location. Useful for chain-wide reporting.
Single Location shows a scoped view. Useful for day-to-day work at one store.
How the filter is stored
The current location selection is stored in a session cookie in your browser. That means:
The filter persists across screens and page reloads while you are logged in.
The filter is tied to your browser, not your Oryx user account. If a different staff member logs in to the same browser, they inherit the last-selected location until they change it.
Two browser tabs in the same window share the same cookie. Changing the location in one tab changes it in the other.
When a report or count looks off, check the location filter first.
Running two locations from one computer: use separate browser profiles
If two staff members at different locations share a computer, or one staff member needs to work in two locations at once, use separate browser profiles. Each profile has its own cookies, so each can hold a different location filter at the same time.
Microsoft Edge:
Click your profile icon at the top right of Edge.
Choose Setup a New Profile → Personal/Work.
Name the new profile after the location, for example "Downtown" or "Airport".
Sign in to Oryx in the new profile and select that location.
Repeat for each location. Switch between them with the profile icon.
Google Chrome:
Click your profile icon at the top right of Chrome.
Choose Add (or Add another account, depending on your Chrome version).
Choose Continue without an account for a local profile, or sign in with a different Google account.
Name the profile after the location.
Sign in to Oryx in that profile and select that location.
Keep one profile per location and always do that location's work from that profile.
Location in daily workflows
Check-In: at the start of a session, choose which location the shipment is for. Inventory and subscriber allocations route to that location.
Subscriber actions: adding a customer to a subscription routes the subscription to the customer's assigned location by default.
Reports: reports run at the selected location unless you choose All Locations.
Common mistakes
Forgetting that the filter is a session cookie. If you clear cookies, the filter resets to the default.
Running two locations in one browser profile. Use separate profiles.
Exporting a report scoped to one location when you wanted all locations. Check the filter before exporting.
Checking in a shipment at the wrong location. Double-check the location at the start of check-in.
